It is obvious that the people of the Rural Australia of yesteryear were much more Christian than those living on the land now.The churches dotting the landscape show that in the early 20th Century Christianity was important enough for local people to build and maintain their own churches close by to where they lived.
Churches of all denominations and persuasions are now being used as hay storage, houses and flats, as well as just standing empty.
What changed? Certainly not God Gad. After all the bible states that “He is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
What has changed is Rural people perception of the place of God’s church in their lives. No longer do they trust the church enough to subsidize a minister, work to maintain a building and spend time at church or worship.
It is just not important anymore.
Perhaps it is the churches fault for not changing with the times, perhaps it is minister’s faults for not being interesting or relevant, maybe it is the people’s fault for not having enough faith. But lets not go down the road of whose fault it is, we are probably all to blame. Instead lets look at if a church in a field in your community can be of assistance to you.
Would you go to that church if you thought you could get something to benefit your life?
Most of us probably would. Lets be realistic, that’s the society we live in, if we can get something out of it, we are interested.
Well, God has something for each of us. Now it is a matter of packaging it so you will be interested and so you will invite others who will be interested.
